Knitters are generous people! I’ve visited several websites dedicated to charity knitting and most of them seem to be inundated with donations, and are encouraging crafters to find local charities to benefit from their work. So... make anything you feel like making, and I’ll see that it gets a good home. The usual needs are: children’s hats and mittens, preemie hats, chemo caps, baby blankets and lap blankets. Some good websites to visit for free patterns and info about charity knitting are:
I’ll also be accepting donations of yarn (at least half a skein of new yarn, nothing that’s been sitting in Grandma’s attic for decades, please) to distribute to those who want to participate but don’t have the yarn stash to plunder. PLEASE, ALL donations need to have the yarn content attached in some way (synthetic, synthetic/wool blend, cotton, washable wool, hand wash wool) so the recipients knhow how to care for their items. I’ve also ordered 10 copies of Knitting for Peace, a great book about charity knitting with basic patterns for hats, socks and mittens, also chemo caps, blankets and child’s vest pattern, which I’m selling at 20% off to help everyone along.
